LLC, the Australian pop punk, indie, and rock 'n' roll juggernaut, is back with a fresh knockout of a track titled "One Step Closer." This new release is a full-on reimagining of Jordin Sparks' 2007 mega-hit, flipped on its head and rebuilt with a Warped Tour attitude. The original pop and R&B sheen is swapped out for electric guitars, chugging riffs, and booming rock drums with cavernous toms and punchy low end. The result is a bright, snappy burst of energy that practically forces your head to nod.
Since Jordin Sparks' vocal range is a tough match for most rock singers, LLC brought in the perfect solution: Nick Thompson of Hit The Lights, whose unmistakable voice slides right into the mix and gives the cover its bite. Paired with Lorenzo La Cava's songwriting instincts and multi-instrumentalist chops, the track becomes something entirely its own rather than a simple nostalgia play.
