The Chandelier Swing just dropped their spirited new single "Those White Flags Are No Match for Our Muskets," a fast, infectious blast of pop-punk packed with early-2000s nostalgia and plenty of attitude.
Formed in St. Louis in 2020, The Chandelier Swing pulls inspiration from the melodic pop-punk and edgier emo sounds of the 2000s, and that influence is immediately apparent on "Those White Flags Are No Match for Our Muskets." From the opening riff, the band wastes no time getting to work, ripping through the track with an upbeat, carefree energy and a defiant "fuck you" attitude that'll have you feeling damn near invincible.
Crashing cymbals collide with bright, blissful guitar tones while the vocals ring out in unison, perfectly matching the song's playful energy. The production is equally impressive, giving every element room to hit while maintaining the rawness that makes this kind of pop punk so much fun.
There are flashes of A Wilhelm Scream in the band's fast and aggressive approach, while the punchy breakdowns are reminiscent of early Blink-182. The result feels nostalgic without simply retreading the past, with The Chandelier Swing putting their own personality behind the familiar ingredients.
"Those White Flags Are No Match for Our Muskets" serves as the first single from The Chandelier Swing's upcoming EP due this November, and marks an exciting step forward for the St. Louis crew.
