SUMMER OF PERIL TURN UP THE FUZZ ON HEAVY NEW SINGLE “TEAR ME APART”

Colorado's Summer of Peril is set to unleash their sophomore full-length this fall, but before it lands, the Fort Collins alternative rock band is giving us one final taste with "Tear Me Apart."

"Tear Me Apart" lives comfortably in that sweet spot where alternative rock, shoegaze and heavier '90s-inspired guitar music all start bleeding into one another. It's fuzzy, melodic and appropriately massive, with the kind of thick guitar tones that make you want to turn the volume up another few clicks just to see what happens.

Fans of Soul Blind, Split Chain, Superheaven and Narrow Head should immediately feel at home here. There's plenty of heaviness underneath the track, but Summer of Peril doesn't rely on sheer volume to carry it. Melody remains a huge part of the equation, giving "Tear Me Apart" enough accessibility to stick around once the wall of guitars finally fades.

That balance between weight and melody is what makes this particular corner of alternative rock so damn satisfying when it's done right. You can hear echoes of the '90s without the whole thing sounding like four people digging through their older siblings' CD collections and trying to recreate 1996.

Instead, Summer of Peril takes those familiar textures and pushes them through a modern lens. The result feels equally suited for a pair of headphones and a sweaty room where the guitars are loud enough to make your clothes vibrate.

"Tear Me Apart" also carries some extra weight as the third and final single leading into the band's forthcoming sophomore full-length. After spending the past few releases slowly revealing what this next chapter will sound like, Summer of Peril is officially done handing out previews.
